Suliman Carrim returns to court for continuation of his bail bid

Carrim made his first appearance on Friday after his arrest at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Crime-accused Suliman Carrim will return to the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Monday morning to continue his bail application.

He’s facing a charge of contravening the Commission’s Act for repeatedly failing to appear at the Madlanga Commission.

At the commission, Carrim has been placed at the centre of alleged dodgy dealings with alleged crime figures Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala and Mswazi Jotham Msibi.

On Friday, the Pretoria Magistrates Court heard that Carrim was about to board a flight to Dubai with his wife and from there, they would travel to Saudi Arabia for what he calls spiritual upliftment and then to Pakistan.

But Carrim insists they planned to return to South Africa, producing a return ticket to the court.

Investigators insist Carrim could not produce a return ticket when police asked for it during his arrest.

On Friday, the matter was postponed to allow for police to verify the authenticity of the ticket and to confirm his residential address.

The 49-year-old spent the weekend in a single cell at the Kgosi Mampuru Prison, the same facility where crime-accused Shadrack Sibiya and Matlala are being held.
