Israel has approved the first phase of a Gaza deal which will lead to a ceasefire and the release of hostages.
A ceasefire was due to come into effect once the Israeli cabinet had given its approval but had been air strikes in parts of Gaza overnight
Under the agreement, Israel’s military will partially withdraw from Gaza, it has 24 hours to do so.
Hamas will then have 72 hours to release all Israeli hostages, while Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
Once the deal is operating, aid trucks will surge into help Gaza’s two million people, most of whom have been displaced
