Syria’s Yankee Jihad, flush with “White Wolf” troops from Ukraine and “White Helmet” propagandists from Britain, are also with equipped with white flags for Israel.
The Cradle reports Tuesday an Israeli intelligence agent, Mordechai Kedar, says Hayat Tahrir ash-Shams (HTS) officials have assured him they “are ready for a peace deal with Israel”.
Clearly, HTS knows which side of its bread is buttered, as it has always been.
A creation of the CIA
HTS is an offspring of Al-Qaeda and ISIS, combined. Once the weapon supply lines had made it clear Washington was supporting its supposed nemeses after the “Arab Spring” in 2011, and after they had shown their true colours in helping over throw Muammar Ghadaffi in Libya, the “US Inkatha” enjoyed a new lease of life, getting open support and training from America and Turkey throughout Joe Biden’s presidency.
Until last week, they had maintained a low profile and have emerged in the latter days of Biden’s “lame duck” presidency in an aggressive resurgence that probably has two aims – to take over as much territory as possible before Donald Trump’s inauguration and to present the new president with a “fait accompli” too attractive to resist.
Trump famously pulled troops out of Syria during his first administration, disavowing any commitment to another “Biden war”.
But, this time around, he’s having to show he’s still 100% behind Israel as it widens the Gaza grinder into Lebanon, with an eye on Syria and another on Iran. Having a “tame jihadi” movement in your back pocket in these times could come in handy.
Surrendering in advance
Which is probably why Kedar has crept out from under a carpet to assure a Washington audience that HTS is already prepared to surrender even before “final victory”.
In six days, HTS has already seized large parts of Aleppo after launching its latest campaign from Idlib governate where they have been protected and sustained by American troops stealing Syrian oil.
Kedar posted on X Tuesday: “Israel is on the side of the so-called ‘rebels’ in Syria,” adding that HTS is fighting against Assad, Iran, and Hezbollah, aligning with Israel’s interests. He noted: “They will continue to support them if they are well-behaved.”
Kedar also claimed: “Leaders of Syrian opposition factions have conveyed to Tel Aviv that they are planning to open an Israeli embassy in Damascus and Beirut. I am in constant contact with leaders of Syrian opposition factions, and their current impression is that they do not consider Israel an enemy.”
He added: “The armed factions have requested a detailed list of equipment from Israel, and they are ready for a peace agreement with Israel after taking control of Syria and Lebanon.”
What could go wrong?
It’s not the first time HTS, or its previous corporate brands, have surrendered to Israel at the start of one of its infamous campaigns. It made similar offers to Israel during the first phase of the Syrian civil war.
Still, taking on Israel as a friend is probably as dangerous as confronting it as an enemy. Like the Kurds, HTS must know they’re a very disposable ally, likely to be jettisoned the moment they become inconvenient to its allies mercurial interests.
Kedar underlined this truism Tuesday, noting: ““Today, we are with the Syrian revolutionaries, but tomorrow, I don’t know. The rebels in Syria will get rid of the Iranian presence and Hezbollah, so they must be supported. If they are good with us, we will support them, and if not, we will not support them.”
The Cradle notes in April 2014, Kamal al-Labwani, a senior opposition activist, appealed for collaboration with Israel to topple the Syrian government, claiming that the revolution created a historic opportunity for peace between the nations’.
Collaborating with the enemy
He told Israeli media he believed “we [the opposition] have shared interests with Israel.”
“Iran, Hezbollah, and Al-Qaeda are the joint enemies of Israel and the Syrian people. We must collaborate against them”, the BBC reported at the time.
His appeal was for support for the broad-based resistance by ordinary Syrians to the Bashir al-Assad government. Instead, the call was taken up by Washington and its Zionist allies to install a rebranded Al-Qaeda-ISIS corporation into the opposition ranks, eventually taking over control of the campaign against the central government.
So, the civil war became a war of recolonisation.
America and Israel then gave direct support to the Syrian Al-Qaeda affiliate, the Nusra Front, led by Abu Mohammad al-Jolani, a former leader in the Islamic State in Iraq.
The Nusra Front later changed it corporate branding to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which is the extremist group currently attacking Aleppo.
“In 2015, the Wall Street Journal reported that Israel was treating Al-Qaeda fighters from the Nusra Front who were wounded fighting the Syrian army.
“In 2019, outgoing Israeli Army Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot acknowledged for the first time that Israel had indeed provided weaponry to Syrian opposition armed groups such as the Nusra Front and the Free Syrian Army (FSA).
Plucking a turkey
“Eight days before last week’s HTS offensive on Aleppo, Yedioth Ahronoth revealed that Israel’s Shin Bet (internal intelligence) Chief Ronen Bar recently made a clandestine visit to Turkiye, meeting with Ibrahim Kalin, head of Turkish intelligence agency Millî İstihbarat Teşkilatı (MIT),” The Cradle notes.
So, Türkiye must have been collaborating with the Zionists and HTS for quite some time. That probably explains why Ankara has been so slow to cut economic and other ties with Israel throughout the Gaza genocide.
AFP reports HTS mercenaries are taking orders directly from Turkish intelligence and that Ankara had given the green light for the latest offensive against Aleppo.
“The jihadists and their Turkiye-backed allies took orders from a joint operations command,” AFP adds.
The Cradle reports the CIA and allied, Zionist intelligence agencies established joint operations rooms in southern Turkiye and Amman, Jordan, after 2014 to direct the activities of their extremist proxies fighting in Syria.
Turkish news site Izvestia reports the unfolding HTS attack on Aleppo is coordinated between Turkish, Ukrainian, and French intelligence, with Israeli support and US approval.
