Genocidal Israel is turning all its rage and fury on Lebanon, striking 1 500 targets and killing 568 people over the past 24 hours, in a desperate bid to try force a regional war and draw in US troops on the ground to support is exhausted military.
Its warplanes Tuesday blasted the Lebanese countryside in the south and east and in the capital Beirut, local and international media reported.
Thousands of Lebanese muhajireen are moving to safer areas. Fifty children were counted among the dead, Lebanon’s Health Ministry said. Six of the those came Tuesday in what Israel described as a “targeted strike” in Beirut that left 15 injured.
Desperation at all-time high
At least 1 835 were reported wounded as Hezbollah fired more rockets Tuesday and world leaders sought to cool tensions and avoid a wider war.
Al-Mayadeen says desperation in the Tel Aviv war bunker is at an all-time high: “Despite understanding that a war with Hezbollah is unwinnable, it is also clear that the Israeli leadership are actually pushing for such a conflict, but under one of two scenarios: They either seek a limited battle, not a full-scale war, or, they will need to drag the US into a broader conflict that likely involves Iran.
“In order to receive the backing of the United States and legitimacy from their Western allies, the Israelis need Hezbollah to be the ones to start the war. This is why they are continually provoking the Lebanese Resistance, in an attempt to put them in a corner and force them to respond in a way that would justify the Israeli desired outcome.
“In the minds of the Israeli and US leaderships, they believe that a war with Lebanon will have to result in a stalemate, which will then take Hezbollah out of the equation when it comes to ending the conflict with Gaza. This is what the recent aggression is all about – isolating the fronts.
Psychological war
“Since October 8, Hezbollah has been a thorn in the side of the Israeli regime and has dealt it countless blows economically, psychologically, and militarily. This inflicted a serious wound on the Israeli public’s perception of their leadership and also made the Zionist entity appear weak regionally.
“What has to be understood is that this war is being fought on the psychological front, as much as it is on the battlefield. Knowing this, the Zionist regime’s actions have sought to damage the image of Hezbollah and Iran in order to make up for the damage that has been inflicted on the Israeli image of strength that has now evaporated. So, in this context, the Israelis are taking risks.
“Meanwhile, the strategy of the Lebanese Resistance is very clear, it seeks to work as a support front for the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza and to maintain a war of attrition along the border area. They refuse to abandon this mission, which is costing the Israelis greatly and represents the only means of pressure being exerted on the Zionists to give up in Gaza and sign a ceasefire agreement.”
Gaza murder grinds on
After failing to win any of their key goals in Gaza, the Israelis, with full US backing, have switched the main front of their war to Lebanon.
But, it is keeping up its savage murder in Gaza, unleashing bombardments across the enclave as the genocidal war on the Strip enters its 354th day, resulting in the martyrdom and wounding of Palestinians.
In Khan Younis, rescuers recovered the bodies of at least seven martyrs who were killed as a result of airstrikes on two family homes.
Five were killed in the Qizan al-Najjar area, while another two were in the Tahliyah area. At least 15 Palestinians were wounded.
Around Sheikh Nasser, two people were martyred and several others wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a family home, while helicopters opened fire over the al-Mawasi refugee camp west of Khan Younis.
