Polecat Netanyahu stuck up too many trees, needs an intervention – Baroud

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a polecat stuck up several “trees” in Arabia and he cannot descend any of them because each has a different set of hound dogs baying for his blood, Palestinian Chronicle editor Dr Ramzy Baroud says.

Instead of giving up and handing the reins over to someone else, Netanyahu is spending the last days of his political career jumping from one tree to the other while ordinary people on the ground pay the price in blood.

He’s stuck up an Iran tree, he’s dangling from a branch in Gaza, he’s swinging among the leaves in West Bank, hunkering in a crotch in his Cabinet bunker, dodging falling, overripe fruit in Israeli courts and he’s climbing ever higher in a desperate bid to escape arrest warrants at the International Criminal Court and at the International Court of Justice while threatening to burn down his hollowed out United Nations tree trunk and planting seeds of another tree in Lebanon.

Frenzied hollering

Each tree has its own hounds baying separately from hounds at other trees. The Iranians don’t listen to his war cabinet, the Palestinians have given up on the United Nations, the courts in Israel have very different standards to real courts like the ICC and the ICJ.

So, even if Netanyahu launches a major campaign to quieten hounds around one tree, he’s guaranteed to drive the hollering at the others to a frenzy, Baroud has said in a impassioned Facebook post.

And then, there’s the Houthis in Yemen, reminding Netanyahu they’re not letting up opposing the Gaza genocide even if they’re close to starvation bottom on the world’s development index.

Netanyahu needs help, he needs an “intervention”, Baroud says, but few volunteers are emerging from the woods with helpful suggestions.

“Netanyahu has climbed these trees and he doesn’t know how to come down. And, because he doesn’t have the courage, or the leadership, or the intelligence to say, or admit, that he cannot come down the tree, he’s jumping from one tree to the other. One day, he’s trying to provoke a fight with Iran, the other day, he’s trying to provoke a war in Lebanon and so on and so forth.

“But, if you cannot come down a single tree, Mr Netanyahu, how can you get down from all of these trees at the same time?

Controlled instability

“Now, the Americans also don’t have the courage to tell this man that we cannot support you, because everything you do goes against our interests in the region.

Now, the Americans are as imperialist and colonialist as Israel, even a lot worse.

“But the Americans, they want stability in the Middle East, stability that will allow them to dominate the Middle East. Don’t misunderstand me: the Americans don’t want democracy with stability and fairness for everybody on an equal basis.

“But they also don’t want this kind of state of endless wars with unpredictable outcomes. Especially as they are also fighting their own geopolitical fights in Europe and the South China Sea and the Pacific and so forth.

“So, as a result, you have this madman, again, jumping from one tree to the other, starting wars, blowing up people with their cellphones, pager devices, and getting away with it.

“And, because he’s getting away with it, he’s doing more and more and more.

“Now, he needs to be stopped. And, he can only be stopped if we develop this understanding that Israel is leading the Middle East to a major war and that we, as citizens of this world – everywhere – need to unify our efforts to stop this, to hold Netanyahu personally accountable, to hold his war criminals in his cabinet accountable and to force our governments to raise their voices so that we hold Israel, the entire country of Israel, accountable to international law.

Accountability now!

“Israel must end its occupation of Palestine, Israel must end its genocide in Gaza, Israel must be held accountable to the International Court of Justice, to the International Criminal Court, and the United Nations General Assembly and even the United Nations Security Council.

“This kind of behaviour after a century is going to set the kinds of precedents that will allow other states to choose the same path as that of Israel.

“We need t to be united and to speak with one voice: stop the genocide in Gaza, stop the genocide in Palestine now and hold Israeli war criminals accountable. Now!”
