Gaza: never have the cries of so many, that drown out all else, been heard by so few

Muhammad Amin

The clamour continues rising for action to stop Israel’s merciless Gaza genocide that has relentlessly crushed Palestinian life and respect for international law into a grisly gore before the horrified eyes of the world for 338 days.
Israel remains deaf to uproar, the While the US insists it can see no evidence of atrocities, the UN is raising the alarm about Israel’s “starvation campaign” in Gaza what is the weaponizing humanitarian aid trickling into the battered ghetto.
The warnings came as the Gaza genocide clock kept ticking over, inching towards 41 000, another gravestone marker on the careening, bloody path Israel keeps treading with depraved intent. Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported Sunday 40 972 dead, 94 761 wounded and over 11 000 missing under the rubble.
UN food rapporteur Michael Fakhri said this week that the tiny strip constituted 80% of the people in the world experiencing famine or catastrophic hunger. That was December’s figure; things have worsened starkly since then.
The carnage in Sudan where 25.6million people are facing acute hunger and more than half of that are already experiencing crisis levels of starvation has probably skewed that figure after December.
“Never in post-war history had a population been made to go hungry so quickly and so completely as was the case for the 2.3 million Palestinians living in Gaza,” Fakhri said this week.
And, as Washington’s rose-tinted spectacles continue airbrushing genocide from its political discourse as it wrestles with the lint in its navel in the runup to elections, Amnesty International was calling for an investigation into Israeli war crimes.
It said the Israeli military was creating a “buffer zone” along Gaza’s eastern edge, destroying civilian infrastructure and agricultural land as it did so. Amnesty described the Israelis’ actions as “wanton destruction” and “collective punishment.”
Ordinary people continue taking to the streets across the capitals of the world, demanding their governments do something to stop the carnage, but the ears in America are deaf.
Donald Trump isn’t lending an ear, instead playing his Aipac cards to his fullest advantage, warning Komrad Kamala will be the end of Israel. “If I don’t win this election, Israel, with Kamala Harris at the helm of the United States, is doomed. Israel is doomed.”
He’s warning, some say he’s threatening, that all hell will break loose if he doesn’t “win” the election. It’s all about his ego: “I better win. I better win. Or you’re going to have problems like we’ve never had. We may have no country left,” he told a Wisconsin rally.
That may be a great way to get the marginal Muslim vote lining up behind Harris in an election where the thinnest of margins is likely to be the deciding factor.
Israel’s grubby atrocities keep piling up. It tortured a man to death in Jenin. It’s pulling out of the refugee camp leaving its characteristic genocide detritus in its wake.
Perhaps Sunday’s attack on an Israeli checkpoint on the Jordanian border is a portent of things to come as Israel’s genocide switch to the West Bank indicates its broader intention to wipe out all remnants of Palestinians in Palestine.
A Jordanian truck driver opened fire on the checkpoint at the important Allenby border crossing, killing three Israelis, before he was killed. Yoav Gallant the Israeli defence minister threatened West Bank residents with “increased measures … in the face of Iran’s attempts to spread terrorism”.
Jordan closed the border crossing amid fears Israel is preparing to induce a huge West Bank refugee influx across its Galilee border.
Qatar announced its state development fund would provide UNRWA and the Qatar Red Crescent Society with $4.5 million to provide cash assistance for over 4,400 Palestinian workers and patients from Gaza currently stuck in the West Bank.
