Israeli stormtroopers backed by tanks are menacing towns east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Thursday, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hunkers down in the White House, apparently to discuss a ceasefire.
The escalation in attacks came just hours after Netanyahu told US lawmakers he was actively engaged in bringing hostages home.
Al Mayadeen reports the attacks have taken the genocide death toll to 39 175, with 90 403 injured, most of them women and children.
Reuters reports the attacks are focussed on the towns of Bani Suaila, Al-Zanna, and Al-Karara and has claimed the lives of five abducted hostages taken on October 7.
Scores of civlians were wounded in the eastern towns during Israeli tank and aerial shelling.
Reuters claimed airstrikes around Khan Younis refugee camp killed four people. Al Mayadeen, which has reporters on the ground, said at least 40 civilians were murdered in the strikes.
“Medical sources reported that four Palestinians were killed and several others were injured, including women and children, following Israeli bombardment in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, north of Gaza City.
“Moreover, it was reported that the Israeli forces besieged a house with 10 Palestinians inside, including women and children, amid heavy bombardment in the area.
“Several residents were also wounded by an airstrike on an apartment belonging to the Abu Jiab family in the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City,” Al Mayadeen said.
Reuters reports the Israeli bombardment intensified in Rafah, near the border with Egypt, as tanks prowled through the town. Several Palestinians were also wounded in Israeli fire earlier on Thursday.
The mujahideen hit back. Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades destroyed a bulldozer with an RPG grenade, their brothers targeted Zionist soldiers with mortar shells in Juhr al-Dik in central Gaza while Palestinian Islamic Jihad and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine attacked stormtroopers with mortars in the Netzarim corridor dividing the strip.
