Zionist refusals to agree to a permanent ceasefire are holding up a peace deal in Cairo, Palestinian negotiators say.
Although Hamas representatives have tried all kinds of suggestions, “israel” refuses to commit itself to the essence of any peace deal – the cessation of violence, they said Sunday.
Hamas says it cannot agree to a “half-peace deal” which is what “israel” seems to believe is feasible. The resistance group refuses to budge on its two main demands – the end to violence and the withdrawal of “Israeli” troops.
Officials told Al-Mayadeen they would not allow “israeli” prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s threats to unleash an assault on Rafah to rush them into an agreement not in the interests of Palestinians.
Netanyahu says a Rafah atrocity is a must; there’s no deal without an assault on the border town. He’s holding onto a grand finale to his near-seven-month genocidal campaign with depraved determination because his political future depends on it.
Netanyahu’s right-wing partners have told him to forget about a coalition agreement if he does not invade Gaza. Failure to do so would force an election and also usher in the peace that would allow Netanyahu’s criminal trial to proceed.
So, for Netanyahu, peace means a trial and jail in “israel” as well as possible proceedings at the International Criminal Court. War is his only option.
Hamas says they won’t allow Netanyahu’s personal career dilemmas hold Palestinians hostage. They’s demanding an end to hostilities and an IOF withdrawal. Their other demands are the return of Palestinians to their homes, reconstruction and reaching a captives deal. The captives deal was the only overlapping interest with “israel’s” and even that seemed to be low on the Zionists’ list of priorities.
