Palestinian resistance gathers for Moscow talks

Palestinian resistance groups, including Hamas and Fatah, are holding talks in Moscow on forming a unified Palestinian government and ending the ongoing genocide in Gazy, media reports say.

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov has announced the intra-Palestinian meeting will be held from February 29 to March 2.

Bognadov said representatives of about 14 Palestinian organizations were invited from Arabia, including from Syria and Lebanon.

“Moscow’s goal is to help the various Palestinian forces agree to unite their ranks politically,” he told Anadolu news agency.

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh and his administration on Monday submitted their resignations to President Mahmoud Abbas.

The move is meant to make way for a new organisation that may well emerge from the Moscow talks, or from the process starting there.

Analysts see this as an attempt by Moscow to wrest control of Arabian dialogue from the death grip of the US.

Shtayyeh said “the next stage and its challenges require new governmental and political arrangements that take into account the emerging reality in the Gaza Strip, the national unity talks, and the urgent need for an inter-Palestinian consensus based on a national basis, broad participation, unity of ranks, and the extension of the Palestinian Authority’s sovereignty over the entire land of Palestine.”

Hamas Politburo member Muhammad Nazzal has confirmed Hamas is “engaged in a fierce political negotiation battle that is no less significant than the battle we are fighting on the ground.

“We are committed to the negotiation process, aiming to achieve the interests of the Palestinian people.”
On February 7, Hamas proposed a three-stage plan for a Gaza ceasefire that includes a 135-day pause in the fighting in return for the release of captives. Netanyahu, however, rejected the proposal and vowed to continue the war.
