An Israeli man has been killed and 13 other people have been wounded in an attack by three Palestinian men near an Israeli settlement in the occupied West Bank.
The men had fired automatic weapons at vehicles waiting at a checkpoint on a highway outside Maale Adumim.
Security forces and armed civilians killed two of the men while the third was detained.
Palestinian group Hamas had praised the attack but did not claim it.
There has been a surge in violence in the West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, triggered by Hamas’s deadly attacks in Israel on 7 October.
At least 394 Palestinians – civilians and other members of the community – had been killed in conflict-related incidents in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem or in Israel as of Tuesday, During the same period, 12 Israelis, including four security forces personnel, had been killed.
