False & Misleading Statements by JUSA

All praise is for Allāh Ta’ālā. May the choicest Ṣalāt and Salām be upon Sayyidunā Muḥammad Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam, his blessed family and magnificent Ṣaḥābah raḍiyallāhu ‘anhum.

Madrasah Arabia Islamia (Dār-ul-‘Ulūm Azaadville) records its objection to the misleading and false statements made by Jamiatul Ulama South Africa (JUSA) in its letter dated 11 January 2022 addressed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The letter contains statements to the effect that the fatāwā of JUSA are considered authoritative and binding on the Muslim Community in South Africa, and that it is a founding member of UUCSA, that is a body that represents all major Muslim Theological bodies in South Africa.

It must be emphatically noted that the fatāwā issued by JUSA are not binding on the Muslim Community nor have JUSA been elected or appointed to represent the Muslim community of South Africa. JUSA does not represent the Muslim Community of South Africa.

JUSA’s public call to suspend congregational Ṣalāh, which was made days before the lockdown in March 2020 was totally untoward and unbecoming of an ‘Ulama body, let alone any Muslim. Madrasah Arabia Islamia (Dār-ul-‘Ulūm Azaadville) appeals to the entire Muslim community to turn to Allāh Ta’ālā by returning to the Masājid for Ṣalāh in congregation, to turn to Allāh Ta’ālā in sincere repentance, to correct our belief system in line with that of the Ahl-us-Sunnah wal Jamā’ah, to redress our business dealings and to adopt the blessed Sunnah of Rasūlullāh ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam in every facet of our lives.

In essence, it is absolutely essential for our felicity in this life as well as that of the hereafter to submit fully to the dictates of the pristine Sharī’ah, without compromise or falling for the precepts of Liberalism and Modernism, no matter who advocates it.

May Allāh Ta’ālā bless us all with the taufīq (divine ability) to realise our follies and mend our ways. Āmīn
